Activity: Any on-water trip, class, practice session, etc.
Trip: An activity in which the primary goal is to safely travel/paddle from one place to another and/or back again.
Paddle Organizer: A volunteer club member who organizes a paddling activity on behalf of the club, and whose authority to make decisions necessary for safe and successful conduct of the trip is approved and acknowledged by the paddlers who agree to participate in the trip.
Participant: A current KCKC member in good standing or an approved non-member.
KCKC Paddle Outings must have a minimum of 3 kayaks. Less than 3 kayaks is deemed not to be a KCKC trip or activity.
KCKC kayak trips are designed to allow KCKC members to meet other members, paddle in a “safe” environment, and to introduce members to paddling locations in the Okanagan Valley. The following are common to all levels of paddles:
- All participants are expected to wear immersion gear appropriate to the venue, season, and level of paddle (e.g. drysuit, wetsuit, or insulating clothing such as wool or fleece).
- Remember to bring a change of clothes in a dry-bag.
- Bring adequate food and water for the duration of the paddle (plus a little extra just in case).
- The trip organizer has the right to deny your participation in the paddle at the put-in or before if he/she thinks you are not adequately prepared for the trip or the possibility of immersion.
- All participants are expected to have read, and to comply with, the KCKC Member Responsibilities
- If you are unsure about the suitability of your skills, equipment or clothing, please contact the trip leader for advice prior to the paddle date.
KCKC Trips are rated in terms of levels 1 to 4 to give you an idea of what conditions you may encounter, and what skills you will likely need. Go to KCKC Trip and Skills Ratings for details.
